OverviewTHIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN ROCKVILLE,INKnowledge Services has an opportunity for individuals drawn to the social service industry with the FSSA/Division of Family Resources (DFR) as an Eligibility Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting in the processing of applications from Indiana residents who are requesting public assistance. The DFR is responsible for determining eligibility for individuals applying and/or receiving public assistance. Programs include TANF (cash assistance), SNAP, and Medicaid. The Eligibility Specialist staff are responsible for assisting in the processing of new applications and documents for ongoing public assistance.ResponsibilitiesEligibility Specialists gather data for all relevant assistance programs either face-to-face or via phone with clientsVerify all information is gathered accurately and meets state policiesObtain release forms and medical records as neededVerify income, assets, and other financial / legal documentsReview regulations and program requirements with clientsUtilize automated program to determine eligibility of state assistance programsData entry into state databaseRespond to all inquiries in a timely manner via phone or emailQualificationsHighly organized and analytical team playerPrevious Case Manager experience is a plusStrong written and verbal skillsSolid computer skills, Microsoft Office proficiencyBasic math skillsCase management skillsIndependent worker who is a self-starter that is reliable and dependableStrong customer service background with a professional demeanorPrefer a Bachelor or Associate degree in Counseling or Social Services, but High School Diploma or GED required2 years' experience in a social service environment, state or local government is desired pertaining to employment / training programsPrevious experience as a Case Manager, Eligibility Specialist, Eligibility Associate, Office Manager, Call Center Customer Service Specialist, or Client Specialist encouraged to applyThe Eligibility Specialist position is an opportunity where you can make an immediate impact on your community, plus the potential for promotion.
