Position Information Continuous recruitment; may close at any time without notice. Applicants must be willing to work any shift, including evenings and weekends, and any five of seven days. 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7½% additional pay for night shift work.Examinations Performance Exam (Qualifying Only): Consists of an exercise utilizing an emergency dispatch console monitor. The Human Resources Division may limit the number advancing to the oral exam to approximately the top 30 based upon the final results of the performance examination. A link to the performance exam preparation guide may be accessed here. Oral Exam (Weight 100%): Conducted to appraise training, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. The Human Resources Division may conduct only a performance examination if there is an insufficient number of candidates to warrant an oral examination; if an oral examination is necessary, it will be weighted at 100%.Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.Experience with a keyboard similar to that on a micro‑computer is desirable.Ability to type write from clear copy at a rate of not less than 45 net words per minute.APPLICANTS MUST ATTACH a copy of their keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of forty‑five (45) net words per minute.
