Position Title: Temporary Pool-Property Security OfficerDepartment: Temporary Pools - Police and Campus SafetyPosition Number: 6088-Temp-StaffPosting Number: 0401672Time Limited Position: YesFull-time or Part-time: Part TimeNumber of Vacancies: Multiple VacanciesJob Category: TemporaryHiring Range: $17.252 - $18.00 per hourJob PurposeThe Temporary Property Security (Residence Halls) unit operates within the Fayetteville State University Department of Police and Public Safety. This position will provide security support to the residence halls by patrolling, monitoring access, and ensuring safety of students and property.ResponsibilitiesPatrol interior and exterior of designated residence hall areas, including lobby, hallways, entrances/exits, and surrounding grounds.Check student IDs and Hall Entry Cards, register guests, and ensure only authorized individuals enter.Perform hourly checks of residence hall and surrounding parameters, documenting any discrepancies (unlocked doors, quiet hour violations, etc.).Maintain security enforcement equipment and related records.Provide emergency response assistance and support special events, including traffic control and setting up barricades.Sign in/out at the Dispatch Office and adhere to time‑tracking procedures.Attend weekly staff meetings and training sessions.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Valid North Carolina driver's license (some positions may require it).Knowledge of security, traffic, and parking enforcement practices.Basic first aid skills.Proficiency in using security equipment such as gates, radios, computers, and other electronic devices.Ability to communicate effectively, document incidents, write reports, and collaborate with emergency personnel.Decision‑making skills to identify problems and take appropriate action.Ability to achieve certification as a DCI operator within one year of employment.Preferred QualificationsAt least 3 years of local law‑enforcement experience.EEO StatementThis position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check.
