Protection Engineers, LLC (PELLC) is expanding and looking to add a qualified and experienced Senior-level Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) in California to support our clients and our projects. The FPE is entrusted with a diverse array of responsibilities including (but not limited to) performing design calculations, developing performance-based engineering approaches, preparing code analyses, performing fire modeling, and designing of fire alarm and fire suppression systems. In addition, the FPE has the opportunity to progressively strengthen their skills in the areas of project and financial management, deliverable quality reviews (QA/QC), and reporting as well as business development. PELLC requires the FPE to produce high-quality deliverables and work independently on a daily basis with moderate supervision within our mentoring framework.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms coordination by reviewing drawings supplied by vendors, other engineering teams, and architects while implementing design modifications as necessary.Performs design calculations in support of design efforts associated with fire alarm and fire suppression systems.Conducts code and risk analyses which may include height and area calculations, occupancy and use classifications, life safety evaluation, fire barrier determination and placement, water supply evaluation, suppression and fire alarm requirements, smoke control system criteria, interior finishes, hazardous materials, high-piled storage, and/or fire department vehicle access.Performs computer-based fire modeling to evaluate fire growth and spread, smoke spread, detector activation, airflow and pressure differentials for smoke control design, people movement, and other fire and life safety challenges.Implements broad direction as provided by management but is comfortable in making engineering decisions.Identifies, develops, and implements performance-based engineering approaches and solutions based upon various and often competing data.Gathers appropriate resources in order to solve problems.Supports senior-level staff and mentors mid and junior-level staff.Supports clients to make informed decisions.Monitors and manages project budgets and costs.Embraces the firm's core values in the course of all professional activities.Adds value by engaging in creative thinking, embracing innovation, and exercising independent judgment and discretion.Required Skills & Qualifications10+ years' experience in Fire Protection Engineering and Code ConsultingProfessional Engineer license requiredAdvanced knowledge of Fire Protection and Life Safety EngineeringAdvanced knowledge and understanding of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), national and local Building and Fire Codes, and Factory Mutual (FM) GlobalExcellent analytical and critical thinking skillsEffectively and concisely communicate concepts and ideas both internally and externallyProven record of successful and progressively responsible project managementStrong attention to detail and organizationAll eligible candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and access to DOD sites.#J-18808-Ljbffr
