Job Summary: The Intermodal Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the movement of containers between ports, rail yards, and customer facilities. This position ensures on-time delivery and pick-up of freight, communicates with drivers, customers, and terminals, and resolves issues related to scheduling, equipment availability, and transportation delays. The role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment.Essential ResponsibilitiesDispatch and monitor drivers for local and regional intermodal operations.Schedule and track container pick-ups and deliveries from ports, rail yards, and customer locations.Coordinate chassis and container equipment needs; monitor per diem and storage charges to minimize costs.Communicate with rail and port terminals regarding appointment scheduling, gate hours, and equipment requirements.Track and trace containers to ensure timely delivery and resolve service delays proactively.Provide timely updates to customers regarding shipment status, exceptions, and ETAs.Maintain compliance with port, rail, and customer requirements.Document and escalte service issues with customers, drivers, and vendors as needed.Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers, customers, and carriers.Collaborate with management to achieve company goals and service standards.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills & AbilitiesIntermodal or trucking dispatch experience required (port/rail preferred).Strong knowledge of intermodal operations, container movements, and related documentation.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management systems (TMS).Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when needed.#J-18808-Ljbffr
