Why This Job Matters

The primary function of this position is to promote a safe and secure environment for Ko-Kwel Casino Resort, its guests, and employees. This position also observes and ensures that overall operations of the Security Dispatch Office conform to casino policies and procedures. This person must be able to facilitate appropriate time management skills to manage the Dispatch Office and provide information to all guests and answer all questions that arise.

What You Bring To The Table
  • Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure compliance of casino policy and report policy infractions to immediate supervisors.
  • Provide escorts for large sums of money and chips in the casino to ensure the security of transfer.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of those guests and/or employees who have been banned from re-entering the property, and advises appropriate individuals and departments when observing trespassers on property.
  • Accepts identification from all persons who appear to be under the age of twenty-one, to ensure compliance with applicable gaming regulations.
  • Observe and report any suspicious activity or drug use to supervisors.
  • Observe and use proper chain of command.
  • Facilitate the appropriate response to medical emergencies and activate the Emergency Medical Services when required.
  • Operate and maintain constant communication with Security Officers via radio and telephone communication.
  • Maintain daily activity reports and head counts.
  • Perform dispatch duties and may coordinate solutions or provide guidance to guests and employees during drills or emergency situations.
  • Operate and answer the multi-line telephone system and speak to various guests and casino vendors and business contacts, and forward telephone calls when needed.
  • Communicate with various City, County, State, and Tribal Law Enforcement Agencies and facilitate the relaying of necessary information on situations that may arise on casino property per policies and procedures of the Security Department.
  • Operates company vehicles as directed.
  • Generate necessary written reports regarding security related incidents involving guests, employees and/or the facility.
  • Operate security surveillance system.
  • Be able to complete a variety of tasks to include communication on the radio, on the telephone, in person, and complete tasks on computers all at the same time, and in a satisfactory manner.
  • Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)
Must-Haves, Nice-To-Haves, And Maybe Some Bonus Points
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a current valid Oregon Driver's License.
  • Candidates with one year of previous public safety, casino security, military or other related experience preferred.
  • Candidates with a background in customer service or previous experience in the hospitality industry desired.
  • The ability to speak effectively and persuasively to a diverse customer and employee base and follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong written communication and observation skills with the ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • The ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, policies and procedures and instructions.
  • Must maintain OLCC certification.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Computer skills must include Microsoft Word, Office, and Windows applications and also ability to learn I-Trak database.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free workplace policies.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support other locations.
