Fire Protection Engineer (FPE)

We are seeking a talented licensed Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) with leadership capability to lead our Fire Protection (FP) Department and support the function enterprise-wide from select office locations.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Serve as lead FP engineer and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues for engineering staff
- Participate in the design of fire protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines on projects -performing calculations and attending review meetings
- Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by.
- Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
- Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by staff.
- Communicate and collaborate with other department managers across all office locations.
- Prepare and deliver various internal and external engineering-related presentations
- Perform department leader activities including hiring, coaching and training of staff
The basic requirements for this position include:
- 7+ years professional experience in fire protection engineering/design
- PE/FPE license required - Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required
- Advanced working knowledge of building codes, Fire codes, NFPA Standards and FM Global Data Sheets
- Proficient in standard engineering procedures with proven critical thinking ability who works analytically in a quantitative problem solving environment
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive ability as part of a team.
- Team supervisory experience
- Proficient relevant software skills including Revit, Bluebeam, BIM and MS office
- Skilled technical writer
