Job SummaryThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the impound area by monitoring vehicles, controlling access, and enforcing auction and facility policies. This role plays a critical part in protecting customer property, ensuring a secure environment, and supporting impound lot operations.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Duties/ResponsibilitiesMonitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel access the impound lotConduct regular patrols of the impound area to check for security breaches, damage, or suspicious activityVerify vehicle documentation during release or intake processesMaintain detailed logs of activities, incidents, and visitor interactionsRespond quickly and professionally to security concerns or emergenciesCollaborate with impound staff to facilitate smooth intake, storage, and release of vehiclesEnsure impound lot gates, fences, and locks are properly secured at all timesReport any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual activities to management immediatelyAssist with traffic control in and around the impound lot during peak timesPerform other duties as assigned.Required Skills and AbilitiesStrong observational skills and attention to detailAbility to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situationsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDependable, punctual, and trustworthyAbility to enforce rules firmly but respectfullyPrevious security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious security experience, especially in automotive, auction, or impound environments, is a plusMust have or be able to obtain any required security licenses or certifications (based on local regulations)Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.Physical RequirementsPrimarily office-Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periodsAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionallyMust be comfortable working around vehicles and active lot operationsBenefitsGreater Rockford Auto Auction offers competitive benefits, including:InsuranceEligible on 1st of the following month following 60 days of continuous employment, employees can choose health, dental, and vision plans through United Health Care networks, with PPO or High-Deductible options and an HSA.RetirementAfter six months, employees can contribute to a 401(k) with traditional or Roth options.
