Crossing Guard

POSITION PURPOSE: Provides safety and welfare of students in transit to and/or from school; andcommunicates observations and/or incidents that may impact the general wellbeing of students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists students and parents in providing safe access to and from schools.
• Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel and visitors to ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
• Directs students and other pedestrians to ensuring their safe access to and from school.
• Intervenes in potentially hazardous situations to minimizing injury to involved parties.
• Maintains equipment (e.g. stop sign, vests, street signs, etc.) to ensuring availability of required items.
• Reports observations and/or incidents relating to specific students i.e. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, etc.
• Communicates information for follow up by appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be reliable
• Safety Oriented

HOURS: As Needed

SALARY: $16.00 per visit (Schedule #23-CGSUB)
