Join a team that truly makes a difference in the lives of New Yorkers 60 and older.The Opportunity: As a Fire Watch Assistant, you'll play a vital role in a two-person team ensuring fire safety compliance at a NYC Aging-owned building. Your primary responsibility: maintain vigilant fire watch coverage until the building's alarm system is restored. You'll embody CBN's core valuesaccountability, kindness, teamwork, and integritywhile helping ensure a safe environment for our community.What You'll Do:Conduct regular patrols and inspections of all floors and stairwellsMonitor for fire hazards and respond swiftly to emergenciesMaintain detailed, FDNY-compliant fire watch logsCollaborate closely with your partner and communicate with clarity and professionalismSupport evacuations and emergency procedures as neededWho You Are:FDNY F-01 Certificate of Fitness holder (or able to obtain within 30 days of hire)1-3 years' experience in fire watch, security, or building maintenanceClear communicator, attentive, reliable, and a true team playerAvailable to work assigned shifts. You must remain fully accessible via phone and email during scheduled hours and be available on-site or in the field as requiredRole Details:Part-time, hourly roles with flexibility to cover when team members are out. Two shifts are available:9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.Leonard Covello Older Adult Center, 312 East 109th St, New York, NY.Physical Requirements:Walk and patrol for extended periodsClimb stairs in a five-story buildingUse visual and auditory senses to identify hazardsCompensation & BenefitsHourly rate: $18$24 per hour, in full compliance with the NYC Pay Transparency Act. Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and internal equity.This role is not eligible for group-sponsored health benefits.Earn up to 8.5 vacation days, 2 personal days, 5.5 sick days, and paid holidays (when they fall on a regularly scheduled workday).Participation in a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3% employer contribution.
