Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO)Sterling, VA*This position requires Top Secret (TS) Clearance*Job SummaryThe Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) supports the Senior Facility Security Officer in administering personnel and facility security functions for a cleared defense contractor. Responsibilities include processing security clearances, maintaining security records, coordinating access and visit requests, conducting security briefings, and assisting with compliance requirements. The position requires an active Top Secret clearance, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in administering the company's industrial security program in accordance with NISPOM requirements.Process and maintain personnel security clearance records, including onboarding, updates, transfers, and periodic reinvestigations.Utilize DISS, NBIS, and other government security systems to manage personnel security actions.Coordinate and process visit requests, incoming visitor notifications, and access authorizations.Conduct employee security briefings, debriefings, and annual security awareness training.Maintain accurate security files, records, and documentation in accordance with DCSA requirements.Assist with classified material accountability, inventory, storage, transmission, and destruction activities.Support the administration of facility access controls, badges, visitor logs, and secure areas.Track and maintain security training records and compliance requirements.Assist with preparation for DCSA assessments, self-inspections, and internal security reviews.Review and maintain DD254 security requirements and related contract security documentation.Coordinate with Human Resources, Contracts, IT, and Program Management regarding security-related matters.Assist in documenting and reporting security incidents, violations, and suspicious activities.Provide administrative support for the overall security program and perform other security duties as assigned.QualificationsActive Top Secret security clearance required.1–3 years of industrial security, personnel security, or related experience, preferably as an Assistant FSO.Facility Security Officer (FSO) Certification.Familiarity with DISS, NBIS, NISPOM, and DD254 requirements preferred.Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Security ClearanceTop Secret (TS)Core One is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
