Director of the Department of Social ServicesBoulder County is seeking an innovative leader to serve as Director of the Department of Social Services. The Director is responsible for professional management duties in directing the State-mandated and County-designed Social Services programs and services for a department of approximately 275 FTE. The Director is responsible for a total budget of $50,000,000 including all expenditures and revenue sources and serves at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners.Examples of DutiesWorking in close partnership with Community Services, Public Health, Housing and the Mental Health Center, specific duties will include: directing the development and implementation of department policies and programs which include child protection, child welfare, family services, adult protection, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Food Benefits, Aid to Needy Disabled (AND), Old Age Pension (OAP), Child Support, administrative support, etc.; creating and implementing cross departmental collaborations and integrating diverse funding streams in order to accomplish successful collaborations; interpreting and applying departmental and County policies and procedures, and Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations; developing and implementing long-range plans that support the County's Mission Statement, Vision and Values; directing and setting policy for all budget, financial, accounting and other support systems for the department; providing regular reporting and recommending policy decisions to the Board of County Commissioners in their State-mandated role as Board of Social Services; updating and making recommendations to the Human Services Board regarding policy development, and implementation of board policies and directives; representing the County in matters relating to Social Services; and performing related duties as required.Required QualificationsRequires a Bachelor's degree in Human or Social Services, Business Administration or other field and five years of professional human or Social Services management experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
