The Court Services Assistant is a part-time position that supports the entire Municipal Court team during court sessions and busy operational periods. This role helps keep court operations running smoothly by assisting the Judge, Solicitor, court staff, and probation staff with essential tasks as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Carry files, documents, and information between the courtroom and Court Services office.
- Assist the judge and Solicitor by retrieving case files or printed documents during court.
- Assist attorneys with basic questions about case locations, forms, or check-in procedures.
- Ensure paperwork reaches the appropriate staff quickly during court sessions.
- File documents into case folders accurately.
- Scan filings, motions, and court documents into court software.
- Assist with preparing and organizing case files on court days.
- Assist probation staff when needed and available.
- Help with court calendars and organizational task such as preparing dockets, labeling bins, and post-court wrap-up.
- Provide support during high-volume court days
- Assist when staff shortages occur.
- Help with projects assigned by the Court Clerk Supervisor.
- Help maintain order and assist the public in the hallway during court sessions when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a standard high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a regionally or nationally accredited school. Will accept a combination of education and experience.
