Overview
The Journeyman Electrician performs skilled electrical work in construction, installation, repair & maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures at various City facilities. This position will work on interior/exterior lighting systems and lighting controls. They are responsible for performing tasks in accordance with the NEC standards and codes. This position helps other crafts on electrical components of related building systems (HVAC, environmental, water supply, fire suppression, etc.)
Responsibilities
• Performs troubleshooting operations by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus
• Replaces and repairs equipment, valves, pumps, controls, sensors and motors in electrical service systems
• Restores power after power failures
• Maintains electrical wiring, switch gear, transformers, distribution and control systems in the City facilities in accordance with Electrical Code and manufacturer standards
• Provides construction and installation services for electrical requirements of modification, renovation and minor/major construction projects
• Maintains emergency generators and associated hardware; provides troubleshooting and installation services for UPS systems supporting data processing equipment
• Maintains portable electrical tools and fixed appliances
• Performs preventative maintenance on generators
• Navigates Maximo software system and can ensure records are correctly maintained and comply with departmental requirements, including running Maximo reports
• Maintains general and emergency lighting systems for buildings, parking lots, recreational facilities, and other structures throughout the city
• Provides new electrical system installations based on provided job plans
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time - Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Four (4) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring
• Texas issued Journeyman Electrical License
Required within six (6) months of employment
• ARC Flash Training
