Overview Probation Officer II to provide probation supervision, support, and guidance to probationers referred by the courts to the Criminal Justice Agency. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented and skilled in case management, with strong communication and organizational skills.Minimum Requirements HS or successful completion of GEDBachelor's degree from an accredited college. Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Corrections preferred.Minimum three (3) years of experience working directly with offenders or defendants.A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.Must possess or obtain VCIN certification within ninety (90) days of employment.Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.Must successfully pass testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City of Hampton substance abuse policy.Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.Additional Requirements This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, and the continuation of employment is subject to the renewal or extension of the grant.The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.Benefits Overview Benefits begin on the 1st of the month following one full calendar month of employment.
