Job Title USSPACECOM/SJS Decision Support SMEOverview Provide support to the U.S. Space Command Secretariat of the Joint Staff as a Decision Support Subject Matter Expert at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. The position, ending December 21, 2026, supports command strategic planning, policy development, and senior leader communications.Responsibilities Coordinate and analyze staff inputs to develop foundational policies and procedures, including Terms of Reference and Standard Operating Procedures.Collaborate with staff to assess USSPACECOM strategic engagements and add relevant events to the Commander's Strategic Calendar.Consolidate command updates to produce the weekly Chief of Staff command‑wide messaging.Synchronize staff efforts to ensure proper preparation for senior leader engagements across the DoD and Space community.Produce Secretariat of the Joint Staff input for the Chief of Staff's weekly meeting on successes, focus areas, and concerns.Develop a daily high‑level summary of command activities during the Commander's absence.Analyze and propose solutions to align the Command's battle rhythm with DoD and partner schedules, supporting decision‑making processes.Qualifications 5+ years of space‑related experience, 15+ years total military or equivalent experience.Bachelor's Degree or higher.Experience providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis, and recommendations at a senior level.Ability to identify and resolve challenges at a strategic level.Skill in briefing and interacting with senior (GO/FO) military and civilian leaders.Strong multi‑tasking ability and production of high‑quality deliverables in a high‑tempo environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Excellent oral and written communication skills.Accustomed to collaborating with senior leaders, directorates, and action officers.Active TS/SCI clearance is required.Desired Qualifications Prior strategy, planning, or action officer/contractor experience on CCMD, MAJCOM, HHQ, Joint Staff, OSD, or equivalent staff.Headquarters experience in USSPACECOM, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Air Force, Combatant Command, SpOC, MAJCOM, STARCOM, or similar.Completion of JPME I highly desired; JPME II preferred.Proficiency with Task Management Tool (ETMS2).Location & Work Environment Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. Onsite work. Standard work hours.Compensation Salary range: $120,000 – $135,000 (Colorado only).
