Job overview and responsibilities Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United's global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United's customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you. This position is physically located in Arlington Heights, IL.The Dispatcher is responsible for joint operational control with the Pilot in Command to ensure the safe, legal, and efficient operation of United Airlines flights in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and Company Manuals. The successful candidate possesses strong organizational skills and is detail-oriented. Additionally, strong written and verbal communication skills accompanied by a high work ethic are a must.Prepares the flight releaseMonitors flight progressAnalyzes and disseminates meteorological information, reviews maintenance limitations and calculates the amount of fuel required for safe flightUpdates the pilot in command of significant changes to the flight plan and provides assistance during irregular and emergency situationsMaintains qualification and competency in accordance with FAA and UAL requirementsInteracts with other United Airlines' departments including Maintenance Control, Operations Planning and MeteorologyWhat's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications) High school diploma, GED or education equivalentFAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate1 year of Airline Operations experienceMust be able to work any shift/any day including holidaysMust pass DOT background and DOT drug screenMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationsReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications) Bachelor's DegreeAt least 1 year of FAR Part 121 Dispatch or closely relevant experienceInternational Dispatch experienceExperience working as a dispatcher for another airlineThe starting rate for this role is $7,671 per month.Equal Opportunity EmployerThe University of Missouri System is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
