Job Location: Chapel Hill, NC 27514Position Type: Full TimeJob Summary The Dispatcher works under the direction of an MHS manager. This person helps organize and schedule the safe movement of patients throughout the hospital. They assign transport staff to requests, communicate with doctors and nurses, and make sure patient transport runs smoothly. The dispatcher may also help train new employees and track performance.Key Responsibilities Provide friendly and helpful customer service to patients, staff, and coworkersReceive and manage transport requests using a computer systemDecide which transport requests are most urgent and assign them to the right staffKeep track of team member schedules, breaks, and task completionMonitor how quickly and safely transports are completedWork with hospital staff to make sure patients get to appointments and procedures on timeUse safe techniques when helping move patients using wheelchairs or transport bedsOffer comfort and support to patients and families during transportHelp new staff learn transport systems and proceduresMaintain and organize transport equipmentReturn wheelchairs and stretchers to their proper storage areasKeep accurate records for compliance with rules and regulationsFollow hospital safety, privacy, and infection control policiesUse the patient transport tracking system correctlyTake part in training and stay up to date with job knowledgePerform other duties as assignedQualifications and Requirements High School diploma or equivalent experienceMust be able to work legally in the United StatesMust pass background and drug screeningsHealthcare experience preferredAble to speak, read, and write English fluentlyAbility to work well under time constraintsAbility to work under pressureExcellent communication and people skillsWorking knowledge of WindowsSuccessful completion of Patient Safety Associate (PSA), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) trainingMay be required to meet immunization or health screening requirements through providing personal records or undergoing testing and, if required, further immunizations or testsPhysical Requirements Able to run, walk, or sit for long periodsAble to lift 50 pounds often and up to 75 pounds occasionallyAble to push/pull wheelchairs with patients weighing 100–350 poundsMust have full range of motion for lifting and movingMay need to wear PPE and pass medical screening for itThe ability to work flexible schedules and/or extended hours such as weekends, holidays, and longer shifts is required#J-18808-Ljbffr
