This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Conduct, plan, and coordinate in office and/or on-site engineering and technical reviews, analyses, quality control and evaluations on routine to highly complex level information from internal and external customers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; and follow up with appropriate actions general direction with wide latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
- Provide information and engineering assistance concerning requests and submittals from public water systems to internal and external customers through verbal communication, email, correspondence, meetings, and presentations.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customers related to agency's drinking water quality program through verbal communication, correspondence, data reports, presentations, and responses to media inquiries and Public Information Requests.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with analyzing engineering design, maintenance, administration, and operations of public drinking water systems.
- Experience performing public drinking water system analyses, such as evaluation of water quality, water chemistry, or water microbial assessment.
- Experience preparing reports, correspondence and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field, plus five years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments.
OR
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in the specified fields plus four years of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments.
Substitute Qualifications
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination may be substituted for six months of the required experience. One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

WORK SCHEDULE
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Austin Office.
