Technical Missile Lead

The Stinger Blk I Missile Production Program's Technical Missile Lead is a technical role responsible for leading a multi-disciplined, geographically dispersed team in the delivery of the Guided Missile Intercept Aerial (GMIA), which is AUR missile. The Technical Missile Lead will frequently interface with internal and external stakeholders, technical subject matter experts, key major suppliers and government customers. The role requires a high level of execution expertise coupled with the ability to lead a high visibility production program.

The additional responsibilities of the Technical Missile Lead aspect of the role include ensuring all GMIA related scope across the Stinger Blk I Missile production is executed per proper technical rigor, with a cohesive technical approach and compliant to our execution practices. Occasional Failure Investigations may be conducted to determine the root cause of production issues as well as corrective actions implementation in engineering scope or manufacturing environment.

This is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Drive execution of work scope as defined in the program schedule and define objectives and technical content for your sub-IPTs (integrated product team) leads
  • Communicate to both RTX and program leadership to provide status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed
  • Provide technical leadership to the Sub-IPTs and many collaborative partners from undefined situations/circumstances
  • Manage the engineering support for the production of a legacy Stinger Blk I missile to deliveries with a challenging schedule
  • Review and/or lead production related Failure Investigations to ensure implementation of proper level of technical rigor and corrective actions
  • Perform data collection activities, including review and analysis of data elements, and provide detailed reports of results
  • Provide technical direction, expertise and review for Technical Data Package (TDP) maintenance
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with other IPTs, program leadership, customers, and business associates both internal and external to Raytheon
  • Analyzing manufacturing system performance to identify constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Contributing to strategic roadmaps focused on capacity growth, technology insertion, infrastructure upgrades, obsolescence mitigation, and future capabilities
  • Supporting proposals, business case development, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to team members
  • Collaborate with other IPTs to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience managing a multi-disciplined Hardware Engineering Team
  • Experience with technical team and supplier management
  • Experience using program management tools such as Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to program leadership

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with Stinger Blk I Production Program
  • Excellent presentation and proposal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability as an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) to drive technical failure investigations and production resolutions
  • Experience managing supplier development of complex subsystems
  • Advanced Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
  • Active Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)
  • 4+ years of experience in managing a multi-disciplined Hardware Engineering Team through the product development lifecycle
  • Expert knowledge of multiple work areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
