Correction Officer III – Department of Correction, State of MassachusettsThe Correction Officer III is a state‑wide position responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and order within correctional facilities. The officer works under the direction of higher‑grade officers and other departmental staff.ResponsibilitiesConduct vehicle, mail, staff, and visitor searches.Perform inmate searches and building/ground inspections.Write, review, and maintain reports and documentation.Manage incidents, enforce security protocols, and understand the appropriate use of force.Oversee inmate counts and use the Inmate Management System (IMS).Coordinate inmate transportation and provide training and counseling.Monitor staff rosters, oversee daily operations, and supervise other staff members.Respond to visitors and perform related duties as required.QualificationsEligibility : Current employee in the Department of Correction with permanent civil service status as Correction Officer II and at least 12 months of service (permanent or temporary) in the eligible title.Technical Knowledge (42%) : Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing, work independently, adapt to changing situations, act with accountability, and analyze information to make decisions.Situational Judgement (38%) : Competence in judgment, accountability, adaptability, leadership (including team building), and conflict management.Experience & Education (20%) : Completion of the 2026 Correction Officer III experience and education claim application.EEO StatementWomen, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.#J-18808-Ljbffr
