Position OverviewCorrection Officer I (October) – Statewide, MA (Job Number: 261002COI)Examples of Essential DutiesEscort or transport inmates under restraint; maintain custodial care and control.Patrol facilities, make periodic rounds, conduct head counts and security checks of buildings, grounds, and inmate quarters.Monitor inmates' movements and whereabouts; guard and direct inmates during work assignments to maintain order and security.Observe inmate conduct and behavior; develop working relationships and refer individuals to supportive services.Prepare evaluation reports and perform related operational duties.Entrance RequirementsAge Requirement: Applicants must be 19 years or older on the exam date and provide proof of birth date.Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalency certificate approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or three years of honorable armed forces service.Credit for Employment/ExperienceClaims for credit may be made for prior correction officer experience, subject to verification and submission within seven calendar days of the written examination.Comprehensive Equal Employment OpportunityWomen, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.#J-18808-Ljbffr
