Security Officer

Security Officer position available at a company in St. Louis, MO. This is a 2nd shift position with the opportunity for hire.

2nd shift position with the opportunity for hire.

2:00pm-10:00pm (Mon-Fri)

Security Officer Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Patrol assigned buildings, parking lots, athletic fields, and campus grounds on foot or by utility vehicle to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Monitor campus for suspicious activity, security breaches, safety hazards, and unauthorized individuals, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies and contact police, fire, EMS, or other emergency personnel as needed.
  • Assist with morning and afternoon student carpool procedures while ensuring the safe flow of traffic.
  • Secure and unlock buildings using assigned keys while inspecting doors, windows, gates, and other access points.
  • Provide a visible security presence and assist students, staff, parents, and visitors with directions, escorts, and general assistance.
  • Observe, document, and report incidents, unusual activities, facility concerns, and policy violations.
  • Inform individuals of school policies and address rule infractions such as unauthorized access, loitering, smoking, or possession of prohibited items.
  • Maintain visual observation of suspicious individuals until law enforcement or administration arrives when appropriate.
  • Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment to coordinate with school staff and emergency responders.
  • Support school events, activities, and special projects requiring additional security coverage.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by school administration.
Security Officer Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Driver's License required. Previous security, law enforcement, military, customer service, or related experience preferred. First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email. Ability to remain calm and professional while handling emergencies and stressful situations. Strong observation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Customer service mindset with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work around minors while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Ability to accept responsibility for the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Frequently work outdoors in all weather conditions. Frequently enter and exit vehicles while performing patrols and assisting with traffic flow. Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequently bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach while conducting patrols and inspections. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including running short distances if necessary. Ability to safely perform physical intervention if required, although physical altercations are rare.
