Under general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Inspector / Asset Coordinator is responsible for inspecting, mapping, and maintaining records of City infrastructure including water, wastewater, storm drainage, and street systems. The position supports asset management, GIS mapping, inspections, and other Public Works operations as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Conduct inspections of water, sewer, storm drainage, streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform field verification and document infrastructure conditions.
  • Maintain and update GIS maps and asset databases.
  • Collect GPS and field data for new and existing public works assets.
  • Track, inventory, and maintain records of water and wastewater system assets.
  • Review construction projects and utility installations for compliance with City standards.
  • Prepare inspection reports, maps, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, developers, and City staff.
  • Assist with emergency response and infrastructure-related operations.
  • Perform other duties and assistance to other city departments assigned by the Director of Public Works, Assistant Director of Public Works, or designee

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  •  High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience (5+ years) in public works, utility systems, construction inspection, GIS, or asset management preferred.
  • TCEQ Class C Water Distribution License (Preferred)
  • TCEQ Wastewater Collections II License (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS-related software preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in outside for field inspections.  Attendance at evening and weekend meetings, including Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council meetings, may be required. Duties involve prolonged sitting, standing, computer use, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
