Position DetailsThe Town of Bridgton is accepting applications for a Full-Time Police Officer. We are seeking a highly motivated, community-oriented individual who enjoys working in a team-focused environment and is committed to professional, service-oriented policing.Minimum QualificationsBe at least 21 years of age (or 20 years of age with 60 college credits)Possess a valid Maine driver's license at time of hireBe able to perform the essential functions of a Law Enforcement OfficerApplicants who are not currently full-time certified must:Have successfully passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) ALERT TestHave passed the MCJA Physical Agility Test within the past yearHave completed, or be eligible to complete, certification through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (www.maine.gov/dps/mcja)An Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, or a combination of relevant training and experience, is preferred. Preference may be given to graduates of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLETP).Selection ProcessOral board interviewComprehensive background investigationPolygraph examinationPsychological evaluationMedical examinationAbout Bridgton & the Police DepartmentBridgton is located in southwestern Maine and serves as the hub of the surrounding communities. The area offers a vibrant downtown, specialty shops, restaurants, hospital, movie theater, professional offices, numerous lakes and beaches, boating opportunities, an outstanding 18-hole golf course, and a popular ski resort.The Bridgton Police Department provides 24-hour coverage, seven days a week, and is actively engaged in the community.
