Job DescriptionJob Position: Access Control & Security TechnicianLocation: Abilene, TX 78601Pay Rate: $40.00+/hrTradeSTAR is seeking experienced Access Control & Security Technicians to support commercial and industrial security infrastructure projects in Abilene, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, terminating, testing, and commissioning access control, CCTV, and integrated security systems within commercial, healthcare, education, government, and critical infrastructure environments.Primary Responsibilities:Install, terminate, and commission access control systems including card readers, biometric readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, and power supplies.Install and support IP-based access control platforms and network-connected security devices.Deploy and configure CCTV systems including fixed, PTZ, dome, bullet, and IP surveillance cameras.Install and terminate low-voltage cabling including CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic, and composite security cable.Mount, wire, and troubleshoot intelligent controllers, field panels, network switches, and security head-end equipment.Perform device testing, system commissioning, and functional verification in accordance with project specifications.Troubleshoot communication, networking, power, and hardware issues affecting system performance.Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, door schedules, device layouts, sequence of operations, and low-voltage construction documents.Support integration of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.Maintain accurate installation documentation, testing reports, and project closeout records.Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year of commercial electronic security or access control experience.Experience installing and servicing door hardware, card access systems, and CCTV infrastructure.Working knowledge of structured cabling standards and low-voltage installation practices.Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, PoE technology, and network-connected security systems.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Experience using multimeters, cable certification testers, and commissioning equipment.Familiarity with platforms such as LenelS2, Genetec, Software House C CURE, Avigilon, Brivo, Verkada, or similar systems is preferred.OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.Reliable transportation and ability to work in active construction and renovation environments.Benefits:Weekly PayMedical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceReferral BonusesLong-Term Commercial ProjectsCareer Advancement OpportunitiesOngoing Industry TrainingJoin TradeSTAR and help deploy advanced electronic security systems protecting commercial facilities, critical infrastructure, and enterprise environments across West Texas.#AUS01About Abilene, TXEmbark on your next career adventure in the vibrant region around Abilene, Texas!
