PositionFire Permit Technician vacancies related to the unprecedented natural disaster. Under an emergency order, employees may be hired for up to 90 days with an opportunity for permanent County employment.ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret simple building plans, sprinkler systems, alarm systems, and specifications to determine accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, rules, and regulations.Advise and assist the public at the counter and by telephone on matters pertaining to applicable codes, construction plan requirements, Department regulations, and other information that may be requested.Coordinate routing, filing, and logging of plans to appropriate sections and units.Perform data entry and review of information on a permit tracking system or other database systems.Compute charges for developer fees using a standardized formula; receive fees, balances, and record daily cash transactions.Locate and retrieve plans for staff and customers.Prepare logs and file plans and subdivision maps.Minimum RequirementsTraining and Experience:Option I: One year experience in a public agency reviewing simple plans and permit applications.Option II: Completion of 15 semester units or 23 quarter units in an accredited college or university in building inspection technology, architectural drafting, engineering, or fire protection related courses.Option III: Current certification by the International Code Council as a Permit Technician or equivalent certification.License: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job‑related essential functions.Physical Class: Physical Class 2 – Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10‑pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.Shift: Any Shift – Appointees must be willing to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.Social Security Number: Applicants must include their Social Security Number for record control purposes; federal law requires that all employed persons have a Social Security Number.#J-18808-Ljbffr
