May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Lakes and Parks SuperintendentREQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Provides support for the departmentPerforms manual work which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experienceKnowledge and ability to operate gas powered watercraftWill launch and retrieve watercraft in all types of weatherWill be responsible for the enforcement of the Bella Vista POA Lakes and Parks regulationsMust understand Arkansas boating safety regulationsAssists in the resolution of any boat safety issue on the lakes.Checks for proper POA identification.Sells Lake Use permit and temporary boat passes to members and guests.Handles money collected, makes change, if required, from pass sales.Shall refrain from any confrontation or potential volatile situations.Reports potential illegal activities to the Bella Vista Police department.Communicates to the Lakes and Parks Superintendent any POA violations.Maintains safe and courteous operations of the lake patrol boats.Performs minor maintenance/repairs to lake patrol boats, keeping them in good repair.Notes and reports any docks and/or seawalls that are in declining condition.Monitors fishing tournaments on lakes.Keeps the lakes free of debris such as litter, trash and any types of dangerous floating objects.Picks up the litter and empties trash cans around the lake dams, parks, and picnic pavilions.Assists POA members and guests when needed and will be a source of information.Promotes good public relations.Assists in the sinking of fish habitat.Assists in the lake fertilization programs when implemented.Patrols lakes and parks to check for membership cards, boat registrations, and enforcement of POA rules and regulations.May assist Sheriff's department or the fire and ambulance services in emergency situations.Controls the use of the equipment and facilities and explaining services provided.Assists participants in obtaining desired services.Removes brush and ground debris to improve lake and range grounds appearance.Maintains records of usage and reports to supervisor.Answers questions and explains rules and regulations when appropriate.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Must understand POA Fishing, Boating and Water Sports regulationsMust have a strong boating backgroundMust be proficient in managing a power boat in all types of conditions and situationsRequires continual attention to detailsMust exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customersMust be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilyPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
