The Sheriff's Office Detention Division is responsible for the safe keeping of inmates awaiting trial or sentenced to serve time in the county jail. Detention Officers are responsible for processing all incoming inmates, supervise day to day activities of inmates, maintaining inmate records, ensuring inmates make all court appearances, coordinate inmate transfers to other facilities, having daily sick call, coordinate inmate visitation, and maintain inmates' property.Be of good moral character;Be a citizens of the United States;Be at least 21 years old;Be a high school graduate, or the equivalent (GED);Be able to produce a negative result on a drug screen;Pass a thorough background investigation, including a personal interviewNot possess a prohibitive criminal history.NC Department of Justice Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC) = 182 hoursTCSO Field Training Program = 336 hoursAnnual NC Department of Justice Mandated In-Service Training = 20 to 32 hoursDivision of Criminal Information (DCI) training = 181 hoursPlease contact Lt.
