Outagamie County Sheriff's Department is hiring Part Time Patrol Officers!Under general supervision of the Patrol Captain the PT – Patrol Officer provides security to the Appleton International Airport, Courts and Outagamie County Administration Building. The PT – Patrol Officer transports inmates from the jail and other institutions.This position is non-benefit eligibleThe following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.ResponsibilitiesResponds to assist citizens and disturbances at the Appleton International Airport, Courts and Outagamie County Administration Building. This may include interviewing people, assessing if the situation needs further law enforcement intervention and making arrests when appropriate.Provides security to an assigned area, familiarizing self with citizens, offices, and standard activities, responding as appropriate.Conducts transports for jail inmates addressing medical issues and court.Disperses and addresses public concerns at public gatherings.Gain knowledge and awareness of locations of the county buildings/facilities.Prepares detailed reports of arrests and investigations according to department policy.Appears as witness in court, providing clear and accurate testimony.Delivers and serves warrants on individuals, transporting persons to court or jail, as directed by warrant.Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works extra hours as required.QualificationsGraduate from high school or G.E.D.60 post high school credits.Experience in law enforcement desired. Preference given to retired, certifiable officers.Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.Valid Wisconsin driver's license required.Must be a U.S. Citizen.Must be legally able to possess a firearm.Post hire requirements may include successful completion of a physical agility test; psychological test, post-offer physical evaluation and/or other tests to aid in determining fitness for employment.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to explain and enforce federal, state, and county laws, ordinances, and regulations. Must comply with appropriate safety regulations.Ability to meet department standards of physical condition.Ability to demonstrate leadership in wide variety of public crises and maintain good composure and exercise good judgment, especially in emergency situations.Must maintain confidentiality.Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and prepare clear and comprehensive reports.Ability to remember facts and details accurately and to testify clearly and accurately in court.Must demonstrate skill in the use of patrol vehicles and police equipment such as firearms.Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, county officials, municipal police departments, general public, etc.Budget time and schedule work to efficiently complete tasks.Ability to effectively use professional language and diplomacy with co-workers, the general public, and others.Ability to run, walk, stoop, climb, bend, stretch; push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds, understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.OUTAGAMIE COUNTY IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
