Definition The EMS Engineer – Level I is accountable for learning the basics of the energy management / building automation industry from the viewpoint of a controls engineer. EMS Engineer – Level I will perform work under the guidance and leadership of the Engineering Manager, Engineering Senior Leaders, Project Manager(s), and EMS Engineers – Levels II & III. All work must meet or exceed the requirements of the LSI Installation and Commissioning Standards. The EMS Engineer – Level I responsibilities include but are not limited to: creating controls installation submittals, I/O module wiring diagrams, and bills of material from the project site walks, sales estimate, and contract documents; establishing the project material requirements from installation and submittal packages; creating the programming for the controllers; developing sequences of operation via specifications, correspondence from other departments or the customer; developing the project graphics by utilizing software available; programming and graphic projects; as-built and operation/maintenance documents. On occasion, the EMS Engineer – Level I will assist a Level II/III or PM/EMS Technician to perform controls project start-up and commissioning. EMS Engineer – Level I can be asked to perform troubleshooting, testing and commissioning on BMS alongside assigned EMS Technicians. The EMS Engineer – Level I will be able to coordinate work with other trades (i.e. electricians, HVAC technicians) and must have the ability to work according to project schedules, financial budgets, priorities, and required processes.Responsibilities Basic Skills / HVAC / Electrical / Computer Functions:Understand Windows and basic computer functions, including Word, Excel, Browsers, and Email.Has read and understands LSI Installation / Commissioning Standards / ARC 156 Rules.Understands basic HVAC equipment operation and differences between units.Understands and can communicate in basic electrical knowledge.Ability to read equipment schematics and physically field verify equipment.Accurately and timely records and submits timesheets.Work Strengths / Communication / Motivation Understand the importance of communication and coordination with other departments/people/trades.Can work proficiently in individual and team settings.Able to handle multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously and report to management correctly.Self-motivated to continue learning about the industry and ALC technology, even outside of normal hours.Has initiative to attain new skills while reaching goals set by team leader.Demonstrates great punctuality and professionalism.Communicates needs for assistance, resources, training, and support in a timely fashion.Keeps focus on assigned tasks. Minimizes outside distractions to continue production.Remains approachable / listens / takes ownership of issues / has a strong work ethic.Technical / Submittals / Databases / Software / Graphics / Documentation / Processes Can identify equipment on floor plans.Understands equipment schematics, submittals, and module sheets.Early understanding of RFIs (Requests for Information) and utilizes early in project process to keep schedule.Understands WebCTRL system navigation, logic page structure, and system layouts.Works to LSI Engineering Standards on all assigned tasks.Knowledgeable on inputs and outputs (binary, analog, universal, network).Produces quality control submittal packages for construction, including product data sheets, network risers, equipment control diagrams, bills of material, and sequences of operation per equipment.Ability to produce accurate databases, accurate floorplans, and equipment graphics per standards.Early understanding of Eikon programming, program libraries, graphic libraries, and implementation methods.Understands LSI Engineering Network Drive and Document Preservation requirements.Understands and can operate Engineering Design Suite (EDS) without constant assistance.Identifies scope of work coverage and outlying/missed equipment to team leader / project manager in project infancy.Early understanding of LSI recommended materials / manufacturers / vendors.Knowledge of WebCTRL alarms, schedules, properties, parameters, and trends.Manages personal workload to ensure deadlines are achieved with quality by communicating real-time with management.Properly uses and completes project checklists and red books (project process documents).Obtains all red line / project close out information in a timely fashion.Completes as-built and operation/maintenance packages by working with project team to obtain red-lines, scope changes, etc.Completes and documents all project information immediately upon completion.#J-18808-Ljbffr
