Traveling General Superintendent- Aviation | JE Dunn Construction Role summary: The General Superintendent will develop and execute the project plan and oversee all aspects of assigned projects with significant complexity. This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning all construction sequencing and meeting project goals. All activities are performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. This role reports into our National Aviation Vertical and requires 100% travel to project sites in the United States.ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of the company's safety culture and promote an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentoring others. Investigate safety incidents and retrain staff as needed.Manage subcontractors and organize the overall job and workflow.Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for projects of varying size.Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.Coordinate and manage the care, custody and control of the project site.Lead meetings (daily standups, weekly trade meetings) and participate in progress and project OAC meetings.Create, manage and update the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.Monitor project budget and costs using project management system reports.Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments.Maintain project filing and documentation, update drawings, logs and inspection notebooks.Record unit costs, complete daily and weekly reports, and track progress of self-perform work.Manage material and equipment needs; support procurement processes (MOC and DLSC).Assist in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform operations.Oversee timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and cost codes.Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and coordinated resources.Support project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects and authorities.Contribute to project pursuit planning and lifecycle management; help establish field staffing and respond to changes in schedule and cost.Participate in project buy-out meetings and ensure understanding of owner/subcontractor contracts.Identify and recruit top talent; promote a culture of diversity and inclusion in JE Dunn.Additional Core ResponsibilitiesManage the largest, most complex stand-alone or multiple complex projects from planning to completion.Provide oversight to multiple projects and project teams; participate in strategic company initiatives.Contribute to the development of training content and internal subject matter experts.Deliver leadership messages effectively to multiple audiences both internally and externally.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong written and verbal communication; ability to present effectively.Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (intermediate) and scheduling software (intermediate).Deep understanding of construction management fundamentals and project processes.Ability to build relationships across teams and with clients; knowledge of LEAN principles.Knowledge of trades, self-perform and labor productivity; budgeting and cost management skills.Ability to read and interpret documents, contracts, drawings and changes; strong organizational skills.Knowledge of crane signaling, rigging, layout and productivity metrics.EducationBachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).In lieu of the above, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.Experience12+ years construction experience.10+ years field supervision experience.Experience leading Lean principles on projects (Preferred).Working EnvironmentValid and unrestricted driver's license required.BenefitsThe benefits package for this position is Professional Non-Union.
