Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) is a 40,000 sq. ft. state‑of‑the‑art research facility dedicated to expanding the University's research capacity, particularly in the biomedical and biotechnology areas. It is a broad‑based multidisciplinary research and training institute. The mission of the BBRI is to conduct multidisciplinary and inter‑institutional research focused on health issues that disproportionately affect minority and underserved groups while providing students with research experiences that will enhance their access to careers in the biomedical sciences.Primary Purpose of PositionThe Julius L. Chambers Biomedical and Biotechnological Research Institute (JLC‑BBRI) invites applicants to apply for a tenure‑track faculty position (Assistant or Associate level) in conjunction with the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department (BBSD). The ideal candidate will establish an extramurally funded research program in their area of specialization that will support research in the JLC‑BBRI and provide training opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to research responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to excel as an educator teaching core and elective courses in biological and biomedical sciences to undergraduate and graduate students. Moreover, the candidate is expected to participate in institute, departmental, college, and university service as well as professional service.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent research and analytical skills as evidenced by postdoctoral experience (at least 3 years), publication, and grant writing skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively with othersStrong knowledge base in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, and/or biological chemistryAppropriate experience in teaching university biology courses, especially in the area of cell biology, molecular biology, and biological chemistryKey Responsibilities and Related CompetenciesTeach core and elective courses in biological and biomedical sciences to undergraduate and graduate students; provide academic and career advising to students.Establish an extramurally funded research program in the area of specialization that supports research at the JLC‑BBRI and provides training opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as appropriate; participate in public service within professional societies.Equal Opportunity EmployerNorth Carolina Central University is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
