POSITION OVERVIEW:
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities is seeking one full-time, annually renewable, non-tenure track (term) Assistant or Associate Professor clinical faculty with experience in community pharmacy practice advancement for a shared position between the College of Pharmacy and a community pharmacy site. This position involves joint accountability to the College and the community pharmacy site with a focus on the advancement of community pharmacy through research, practice, and advocacy to establish community pharmacy as a "Direct to Career" destination of choice. The college department home for this position is the Department of Pharmaceutical Care and Health Systems (PCHS).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Clinical Practice Development and Patient Care (0.4 FTE)
- Development and delivery of enhanced clinical services in a community pharmacy setting, including Comprehensive Medication Management (CMM), Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), and Test-to-Treat protocols.
- Clinical program development and operation including disease management programs and protocols and immunization programs.
- Leading quality improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and site efficiency.
- Practice leadership in support of community pharmacy transformation initiatives such as those offered through Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network (CPESN) USA
Teaching and Experiential Education (0.3 FTE)
- Leading didactic curriculum focused on community pharmacy practice advancement, medical billing, and clinical service implementation in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
- Integrating "Whole Task Learning" (WTL) and skills-based training.
- Providing experiential precepting and mentorship for IPPE and APPE students at the clinical site, fostering a "safe" learning environment for student feedback and growth.
- PCHS community pharmacy fellowship support and to train future practice-advancement leaders.
Research/Scholarship (0.2 FTE)
- Establish an independent research program focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative community pharmacy practice models.
- Develop a robust, collaborative research portfolio using principles of implementation science to accelerate the adoption of evidence-based innovations in community pharmacy settings.
Service (0.1 FTE)
- Service within the department, college, and clinical site.
- Representation at the local, state, and national level, including active participation in legislative advocacy and professional organizations (e.g., MPhA, ACCP, NCPA).
The clinical faculty in this position will report to the PCHS department head for all college-related activities, the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs for all clinical activities, and will also have a reporting relationship to site leadership for all clinical site activities. Both the clinical site leadership and the College of Pharmacy will participate in the clinical faculty annual performance review process. The College of Pharmacy PCHS department head will be responsible for faculty development and assessment of performance.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- A doctorate in pharmacy degree (PharmD) from an accredited college/school of pharmacy.
- Active license or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Minnesota.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INDIVIDUALS WITH:
- Post-graduate residency training (PGY1 or PGY2) in Community-Based Pharmacy or Ambulatory Care or a dedicated community pharmacy research fellowship designed to train independent investigators
- Demonstrated experience in clinical service implementation (e.g., medical billing, collaborative practice agreements).
- Prior academic teaching experience
- Board certification (e.g. BCACP, BCPS).
- An established history of scholarship with an emphasis on community pharmacy and/or implementation science
