This employee will perform technical inspections work of building and property within the Village to ensure compliance with proper codes and ordinances.The employee enforces zoning codes and conducts construction inspections of village work on streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure. Work involves frequent field checks in the Village to inspect construction work in various stages of completion. Technical judgment is required to interpret provisions of the codes as applied to practical construction projects and circumstances. The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and extremely hot and cold temperatures. Work is also subject to noise and dust. Tact, courtesy, and firmness must be exercised in dealing with contractors and the general public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works and is evaluated through conferences, review of reports and records, and contractor and citizen reactions.The employee is subject to working in inside and outside environments including extreme hot and cold weather and to work hazards including loud noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, and oils. The employee must exercise judgement and initiative in carrying out assignments.Starting salary is $54,605 to $60,202 depending on qualifications and experience.
