Deputy Court Clerk
Responsible for assisting the public as a Deputy Court Clerk for the City of Denton.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. DUTIES
- Inform the public of options to resolve and dispose of Class C misdemeanors; accept pleas and process payments from the public for various types of citations including traffic, parking, city ordinance and state law violations filed in the City of Denton Municipal Court.
- Assist with telephone inquiries to assist defendants in the resolution of cases.
- Process defendant requests and payments sent by mail, email, online (ODR) or in person.
- Process and handle information and monies by entering and updating case records, processing incoming and outgoing mail, posting transactions, verifying payments, balancing cash drawers, and reconciling and preparing bank deposits.
- Affirm and file affidavits submitted for driver's safety, deferred dispositions, and other documents filed by defendants or their attorneys.
- Perform various clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment to include: filing, scanning, photocopying, preparing case files scheduling court dates, and other word processing.
- Receive defendant information and verify personal contact information on defendants needing extensions for payments.
- Monitor the intercom and utilize court system to check in defendants into the office.
- Cross train and rotate duties with other Assistant Court Representatives.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; and,
- Two (2) years' experience in a municipal court environment or related field;
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Certified Court Clerk Level I certification of the TMCEC/TCCA (Texas Municipal Courts Education Center/Texas Court Clerks Association) from within two (2) years of employment.
- Must meet civilian hiring standards of the Denton Police Department.

- Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): No.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
- Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.
- Environment: Works in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travel to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work overtime, as needed. Must attend regularly scheduled and special meetings.
