Evaluating and repairing fire barriers, fire/smoke control systems and dampers.Principal Responsibilities And TasksPlans carpentry and masonry workPerforms carpentry, masonry, and fire barrier repairs and inspections in accordance with departmental procedures that require a high level of craft skill.Lays out work in the field from two-dimensional drawings, manufactures instructions etc.Inspects and verifies proper sealing and construction of fire barriers, smoke barriers, and penetrations through such barriers.Repairs fire barrier penetrations with a combination of approved fire-stop materials, wall repairs, and masonry work as required.Inspects and verifies proper functioning of fire/smoke damper installations, including electronic dampers.May lead other skilled tradespersons of equivalent or lesser skill when the work requires their participation. Is responsible for advising others regarding the work plan, means and methods, and quality standards.May perform general maintenance on miscellaneous hospital equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers and desks as needed in accordance with departmental procedures.Maintains required records, reports, work orders, and miscellaneous information as to document work assignments, as required, in accordance with departmental procedures.Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment in accordance with departmental procedures and UMMS safe work practices.Assures proper care in using tools, equipment and supplies.Maintains established hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Applies/observes department procedures regarding appropriate, safe, efficient, and effective use of materials and time.Communicates with patient care personnel regarding potential maintenance problems.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.Five (5) years general maintenance experience, including carpentry, is required.Experience in facilities in health care settings is preferred.#J-18808-Ljbffr
