Overview
The Gas Foreman is responsible for overseeing one or more crews that are responsible for constructing and installing gas mains. This position serves as the on-site lead for major gas line construction projects, coordinating contractors and other utilities, reviewing plans, managing as-built revisions, and ensuring construction deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
• Oversee one or more crews responsible for constructing and installing gas mains
• Duties include performing and inspecting pipe fitting, welding, tapping, installing services, repairs, road bores, poly fusion, offsets, stoppling of mains, piping fabrication, employee training, and other related tasks as required
• Serve as the on-site lead for major gas line construction projects, coordinating with contractors and other utilities, reviewing plans, managing as-built revisions, and ensuring construction deadlines are met
• Serving as the primary field contact for contractors, inspectors, and representatives of other utilities and agencies
• Participating in pre-construction meetings, reviewing project plans, specifications, and work packages, and identifying constructability or safety concerns
• Coordinating work with other utilities and stakeholders to avoid conflicts, protect existing facilities, and maintain service continuity
• Managing field revisions and redlines, maintaining accurate as-built documentation, and communicating changes back to supervisor
• Monitoring crew productivity, equipment utilization, and material usage; adjusting manpower, methods, and sequencing to meet construction milestones and final deadlines
• Finish Maximo work orders and associated paperwork
• Use any available programs to monitor or report on progress
• Collaborate with the supervisor for project planning and reporting
• Performs Welding inspections and training for other crews and assists when necessary for other un-assigned projects
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non Exempt - Full-Time - 40 hours a week

Qualifications
• High School Diploma / GED
• Six (6) years experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• Texas Class "A" Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement
• Certified as a competent welder by the Gas Division shielded metal arc welding, including polyethylene pipe and fittings fusion.
