Position Type: OPER

Hours: 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

Hiring Specifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma, HiSEt or GED.
  • Two years of experience in law enforcement or security or comparable job experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a driving record in compliance with district motor vehicle requirements for the duration of employment.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • AA degree or higher education.
Basic Function

Provide security for school district facilities, detect mechanical failures, use central monitoring system, and respond to calls from police, citizens, or alarm drops at district facilities. This position requires continuous use of independent judgement. The essential functions represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the security department.

Essential Functions
  • Perform security duties in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Respond to calls from building personnel.
  • Check all alarms detected by monitoring system.
  • Maintain constant radio communication between patrol and dispatcher.
  • Secure all possible information on each case.
  • Perform tasks as required or assigned in order to be responsive to unique district needs and staffing requirements.
  • Complete written reports accurately; effectively communicate oral and written information with personnel on other shifts, as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and communicate equipment needs to Security Supervisor.
  • Adhere to district work rules.
Additional Essential Functions (for every DMPS position):
  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned

Days: 260 Day Hours: 8 Hour Day

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, driving, and climbing stairs. Occasional bending/stooping, reaching/pushing/pulling, and lifting 50lbs and carrying 30 ft. Frequent use of telephone/computer

Working Conditions: Frequent inside, outside, and exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity
