The role involves supervising offenders, conducting investigations, and coordinating with community agencies to facilitate behavioral change and public protection.Job DutiesSupervise offenders under general supervision.Interview, visit, and observe offenders at residences, workplaces, or other community locations.Apply evidence‑based supervision practices to promote behavioral change.Obtain certification in the Ohio Risk Assessment System and complete offender risk assessments.Develop and maintain case plans with offenders, addressing identified risk factors.Provide individual and group advice, written instructions, and surveillance, including electronic monitoring.Conduct drug, DNA, and other required testing, maintaining chain‑of‑evidence protocols.Identify employment and vocational opportunities through referrals to community service agencies.Maintain contact with offender families, friends, employers, and other stakeholders.Manage caseloads, including special training for supervising substance abusers, drug offenders, sex offenders, and other special needs offenders.Investigate placements, arrests, and violations, preparing written reports for judicial or parole board review.Use field officer tools to record case activity and officer activity.Travel to offender homes, workplaces, jails, and courts via personal or state vehicle.Prepare and submit packets for Parole Board hearings and clemency investigations.Screen inmates for eligibility and recommend transfer into transitional control programs.Respond to inmate inquiries and conduct inquiries as required.Facilitate special hearings, issue arrest, hold, and release orders, and secure warrants and subpoenas.Conduct searches and seizures of contraband, employing force within legal limits.Present cases at revocation hearings and collect evidence.Organize and examine documents, witnesses, and testimony, presenting findings as required.Provide leadership and training to staff, including orientation, on‑the‑job training, and in‑service activities.Oversee outpost office staff and perform background investigations on prospective employees.Build collaborative relationships with community agencies, citizen groups, and criminal justice agencies.Deliver presentations, speeches, and program training to staff and community audiences.Participate in community councils, inter‑agency coordination, and liaison activities with state and federal agencies.Abide by Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Standards of Employee Conduct at all times.QualificationsAssociate's degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement, or a related field.Or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.Or equivalent of the minimum qualifications listed above.No legal prohibition against carrying firearms.Valid driver's license.Must have successfully completed the Parole Officer assessment within the past 12 months or currently hold certification as a parole officer with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.Probationary period of 365 days with potential re‑assignment within the same headquarters county.BenefitsMedical coverageDental, vision, and basic life insurance premiums after completion of eligibility periodPaid time off (vacation, personal, sick leave) and 11 paid holidays per yearChildbirth, adoption, and foster care leaveEducation and development opportunities (employee development funds, public service loan forgiveness, etc.)Application ProceduresApplications must be submitted online through the posting website.
