Associate Judge
The Dougherty County Juvenile Court is hiring for an Associate Judge. Works with local school systems, district attorney's offices, public defender's offices, mental health providers and stakeholders in the community to provide the services, supervision, resources and representation as required by statute. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential tasks include supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff; coordinating and reviewing work; conducting hearings as assigned by the Juvenile Court Judge; participating in National, State and Local organizations and events; speaking and making presentations to community organizations and schools as a representative of the Juvenile Court; serving in the absence of the Juvenile Court Judge; and performing related work as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include a Juris Doctorate, five (5) years of legal experience, participation in yearly training as set out in O. C. G. A. 15- 11- 21, and not engaging in any practice of law in any Juvenile Court pursuant to O. C. G. A. 15- 11- 18(g).
Supplemental information includes physical demands, unavoidable hazards, special certifications and licenses, Americans With Disabilities Act compliance, essential safety functions, application deadline, drug and alcohol screening, and a no smoking in the workplace policy.
