Our School-Age Programs department seeks responsible, caring individuals to serve as Lead Counselors in our After School Clubhouse program, Mondays - Thursdays, from 2:30-5:30 pm.
Clubhouse provides a safe and welcoming environment for children ages 4-10 after their school day. There are four different groups of children each day, divided by age and grade. Our vision is to raise thoughtful community members while recognizing the individual needs of our participants.
All applicants must be available during the school year, which runs from September 8th, 2026 to June 10th, 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick up children from local schools on the Upper West Side and escort them to the JCC
- Provide a safe and fun environment and create a positive classroom culture for children in the Clubhouse program
- Lead age-appropriate activities for children ages 4-10, serve snack, and assist with homework (if working with the older group of children)
- Follow each child's daily schedule of activities and ensure prompt arrival and pickup from classes
- Lead a team of assistant counselors and provide guidance for establishing schedules, routines, and activities for the group
- Daily communication with parents and caregivers
- Close collaboration with supervisors
- Attend program orientation and staff development meetings every other month.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 or older
- Prior experience working with children 4-10 years old in a school, camp, synagogue or community setting
- An advanced or bachelor's degree in education or a related field is greatly preferred
- Ability to commit to working Mondays - Thursdays, 2:30-5:30 pm, from September 2026-June 2027
