POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Security Officer (LSO) performs general security work in the protection of persons, property, and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations of Enloe Medical Center and applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents. The LSO provides day to day supervision in the Security department to include the Security Officers, and any contracted security service officers, on a daily basis. The LSO assists the Security Manager by making recommendations for staffing, scheduling, equipment, supplies, and physical facilities. The LSO will participate in interviews and makes recommendation for final selection of new employees for department. The LSO assists with new employee orientation, scheduling, training, and evaluations according to policies and procedures. The LSO provides input on policies, procedures, and assists in overseeing the entire security program
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
- Previous experience as a law enforcement officer, or as an armed security officer position in which firearms or Tasers were carried. (No past disciplinary actions for Use of Force violations). OR
- Current Enloe Security Officer for at least three years.
- College level courses in law enforcement, security, or a related field, or completion of basic law enforcement training
- Supervisory or leadership experience in security, law enforcement, or related field
- Hospital experience
Minimum:
- Valid California Driver's License
- Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center's Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21)
- Current California State Consumer Affairs Guard Card.
- Current Healthcare CPR certification.
Ability to supervise 24-hour security coverage for multiple sites. Must have the ability to produce concise, accurate, and well written reports. Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with employees, physicians, patients, families, visitors, local Fire Department and Law Enforcement, and the general public. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must have the ability to complete reports, performance evaluations, and other required documentation in a timely manner. Must have the ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner. Must have the ability to lead, motivate, delegate, analyze information, and problem solve. Must demonstrate professional judgment. Behavior should be reflective of Enloe Medical Center core values. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
