About the Role This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government. Because of federal security requirements, all Workday personnel on these contracts must be United States citizens (naturalized or native). The role may require a TS/SCI w/CI Poly security clearance. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. The position may be located on-site at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area.Responsibilities Maintain the overall platform: keep core platform components healthy, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.Automate and optimize: assist development teams in automating service delivery, configuration management, and observability.Troubleshoot and support: provide support and resolve platform-related issues in collaboration with development teams.Documentation and knowledge sharing: build and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform components and processes; actively participate in knowledge sharing within the team.Collaborate across locations and time zones with other engineers and development teams.Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in platform engineering.Basic Qualifications U.S. citizenship.At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with large‑scale enterprise software solutions.Bachelor's degree in a computer‑related field or equivalent work experience.7+ years experience in object‑oriented design and programming, preferably in Java and/or Kotlin, Scala.Experience with build and pipeline scripting, automated unit and system testing, load testing, and continuous integration pipelines.Other Qualifications Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Deep appreciation for enterprise‑level application development challenges.Knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, server architectures, and distributed systems.Preferred: DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current computing environment credential, and one approved specialty certification (e.g., CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, CASP+).Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location (USA.VA.Reston) are $163,800 USD – $245,800 USD. For additional U.S. locations the range is $148,200 USD – $264,000 USD. The role may be eligible for a Workday Bonus Plan, role‑specific commission or bonus, and annual stock grants. Compensation offers are based on geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need.Flex Work Workday supports a flexible work model. Employees are expected to spend at least 50% of their time each quarter in the office or with customers, prospects, or partners. Those in remote roles can meet in the office for important events.
