Security Officer
The Security Officer is responsible for protecting personnel, visitors, facilities, cargo, and company assets within a CTPAT-certified logistics environment. This role supports supply chain security by enforcing access controls, monitoring facility activity, conducting patrols, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with all security and safety requirements.
Access Control & Security
- Verify and authorize all employees, visitors, vendors, and drivers entering the facility.
- Ensure all personnel present valid identification before entry.
- Monitor and control vehicle and pedestrian access points.
- Maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, and activity logs.
- Prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
Facility & Yard Security
- Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols and document findings.
- Monitor truck yard operations and verify inbound and outbound traffic.
- Identify and report suspicious activity, security concerns, safety hazards, and maintenance issues.
- Ensure gates, doors, and security measures remain properly secured.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs), incident reports, and required security documentation.
- Accurately document vehicle information, driver details, and site activity.
- Report incidents, alarms, injuries, and security breaches immediately.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and report to duty in full uniform and required PPE.
- Follow all instructions provided by authorized site management.
- Maintain confidentiality of all security-related information.
CTPAT Responsibilities

- Monitoring for unauthorized access, cargo tampering, and suspicious activity.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol large warehouse and truck yard environments.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, access control systems, incident reporting software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively operate two-way radios and other security communication equipment
