Work is often performed under stressful and dangerous conditions.Other responsibilities: patrol to detect and deter crime; respond to calls for assistance; conduct preliminary investigations; maintain surveillance of stolen cars, missing persons or suspects; respond to complaints, domestic disputes and disruptive behavior; serve criminal and civil papers; investigate accidents and crimes; prepare case files and attend court as witness; advise the public on laws; conduct property security checks; serve as School Resource Officer; provide courtroom security as Court Bailiff; manage inmates; perform special duties during emergencies; maintain knowledge of laws, departmental functions and equipment; use firearms; handle evidence; produce activity reports; interact courteously with the public; maintain community relations.Compensation and BenefitsThe starting salary is $54,516. Upon completion of four months of field training, a 2.5% adjustment may be granted. Deputies receive a competitive benefits package and a take‑home car.
