Responsibilities Patrol an assigned zone of the county; respond to emergencies and render appropriate aid. Respond to reports of criminal activity, assist in investigations of crimes and disturbances, interview witnesses, gather evidence, interrogate suspects, and make arrests; prepare initial investigation report. Transport inmates, mental patients, and intoxicated persons to institutions for confinement or treatment. Serve civil and criminal court papers such as summons, warrants, subpoenas, capiases, and special court orders; explain briefly the meaning of papers served and make arrests when necessary; remain on the scene after serving certain civil papers until the civil process is completed. Open and close courts at designated times; maintain order in the courtroom; assist defendants in completing affidavits; swear defendants in; seat jury in place when selected; escort trial jury to jury room when directed by judge; assist and escort grand jury. Cooperate with law enforcement officers of other governmental units in making investigations or arrests. Provide drug education and resistance programs to elementary school children. Perform outreach and public relations activities with community members, including speaking to school groups and civic organizations. Perform related work as assigned.Qualifications High school graduation or an equivalent combination of experience and training.Must be 21 years of age.Good Moral Character; must pass background check, psychological evaluation, physical, and drug screen.Must be BLET Certified .#J-18808-Ljbffr
