The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Subsystems and CoreSim Team design and produce the hardware, algorithms, and software required to solve the challenging problems of controlling spacecraft systems in a harsh, zero-g environment. This Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (Staff, Level IV) position seeks an experienced engineer who will serve as a Line of Sight (LOS) SME and specialize in optical LOS jitter analysis for precision pointing spacecraft across multiple satellite buses.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and model optical line of sight jitter for precision pointing spacecraft.Collaborate with GN&C subsystem architecture and systems engineering teams.Conduct disturbance modeling, dynamometer testing, space vehicle jitter testing, and requirements flow-down.Perform early program design and analysis, structural analysis, damping, dynamics modeling, and modeling-uncertainty factors.Analyze LOS jitter in time and frequency domains.Support program life-cycle activities including design, analysis, integration, verification, and testing of the GN&C subsystem.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:Advanced domain experience in spacecraft controller design and optimization.Experience developing and verifying simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink and C++.Advanced experience in LOS modeling and analysis.Specialist in optical line of sight jitter analysis for precision pointing spacecraft.Security Clearance / Work Authorization:U.S. citizenship required.Interim Top Secret clearance required as a minimum; Long-term Top Secret clearance required upon employment.Desired Skills:Experience with CORESIM.Flight software development in C++/Python.Attitude determination and Kalman filter experience.Multi-body dynamics and finite element modeling.GN&C hardware suite familiarity and dynamics modeling.LOS accuracy budgets and disturbance modeling.Full spacecraft program life cycle experience.Strong communication and teamwork skills.BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-term and Long-term Disability.401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave.Paid time off, paid holidays, and vacation accrual guidelines per state obligations.Incentive plan eligibility.Additional InformationRelocation available: Possible.Industry: Guidance, Navigation and Control.Experience Level: Experienced Professional.Type: Full-Time, Shift: First.Application window closes in 90 days; encouraged to apply within 5-30 days of posting.Lockheed Martin is an equal opportunity employer.
