TITLE: Security Resource Officer (SRO)
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Director of Wrap Around Services
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt
PAY: $35HR.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The officer's role is to build youth - law enforcement trust, provide real-world perspectives on drug use, violence and community safety. While reinforcing harm reduction messages and drug refusal strategies.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with students, faculty, and visitors to receive/provide information regarding potential problems/safety concerns, instruct, advise, and counsel.
External:
Maintain contact and build relationships with external staff, external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in mission advancement.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
Much of the work time is conducted in a school setting. Work is considered hazardous due to the nature of the duties.

- A L.E.A.D - trained , SRO or retired officers will co-facilitate the " Life Skills Training" curriculum for 1 hour per day during a 6-week program.
- Attend a 8 hour training course for the "Life Skills Training".

External:
Maintain contact and build relationships with external staff, external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in mission advancement.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- Must possess and maintain current Certification by the State of Florida as a law enforcement officer.
- Must complete the State of Florida School Resource Officer (SRO) Basic Training Course.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Minimum of 1 year of law enforcement experience.
- Must have taught a prevention class to youth in the past.
- Knowledge of law enforcement techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of security principles and practices.
- Energetic collaborator skilled in building and facilitating relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate must pass a Level II Background screening and drug screening.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Experience collaborating with schools, community groups, and Non-Profit experience is a plus.
