Job Description – Security Guard

A security guard's job is to monitor a property for safety and security, and to respond to any emergencies. Security guards are often the first to notice and act on security issues.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol : Regularly inspect and patrol the premises

  • Monitor : Monitor surveillance cameras, entrances, and exits

  • Control access : Authorize who can enter and exit the property

  • Respond to alarms : Respond to alarms and other emergencies in a timely manner

  • Report : Report any suspicious activity, incidents, or irregularities

  • Provide assistance : Assist people in need, provide information, and guide traffic

  • Secure : Secure doors, windows, and other entrances

  • Complete reports : Document all observations and incidents in reports

  • Be a deterrent : Be a visible deterrent to crime and rule infractions

Skills

  • Communication : Have excellent communication skills

  • Proactive : Be proactive and attentive during working hours

  • Independent : Be able to work independently
